Imphal, July 27 2009: Members of both ruling and opposition today insisted chief minister, O Ibobi to conduct a inquiry and find out the fact and circumstance resulting in the shooting incident in the crowded Bazar area on July 23 last that killed two persons including a young housewife and injured to five others.

During the zero hour, MLA W Brajabidhu of ruling Congress insisted the chief minister to conduct an inquiry into the incident in order to know that fact and circumstance leading to the dead of the young pregnant housewife hailing from Lamshang.

Taking part in the discussion initiated by the ruling member MLA RK Anand of MPP observed that it was a matter of public interest.

Even though, the House discussed the matter on the day of occurring the incident, people from all sides have expressed condemnation and disagreement with the statements put down in the house by the members.

Due to his ill-ness he could not present the House on that day, he added.

The condemnation and criticism poured down from various circles has hurt the dignity and sanctity.

The incident occurred in the broad day light.

There would have clue to know how the incident occurred and how the woman died, Anand observed proposing to discuss and decide whether it would be better to conduct an inquiry by a House Committee or by judicial inquiry.

The matter has become serious one as people started even the opposition members of the House being taken away by the chief minister in the direction he wanted.

Taking part in passing the appropriation bills in the House, opposition leader Radhabinod Koijam of NCP, O Joy of MPP, Th Shyamkumar etc.

put down their observations that on that the House only condemned the gun culture.

The House did not discuss on which bullet, from police commandos or undergrounds killed Rabina.

They observed that government need to conduct an inquiry into the incident to find out the truth as people poured down their opinions with regard to the incident.

In reply to the observations, chief minister, O Ibobi said that he had tabled the accounts of the incident to the House on the same of the incident.

He had also held meeting with the JAC formed in connection with the incident.

During the meeting they demanded judicial probe.

He had informed the JAC that government is yet to decide whether judicial enquiry or magisterial enquiry be conducted.

However, the chief minister did not give a clear statement whether to conduct judicial or magisterial (departmental) enquiry into the incident.
