Imphal, September 25 2009: A team of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit is planning to leave for New Delhi in October first week to impress Party's central leaders to put up the July 23 firing incident at BT road in the forthcoming winter session of Parliament, which is due in the middle part of October month.

Apart from highlighting the incident that led to the dead of two persons and wounded five others, the BJP delegate would also exert pressure upon Central leaders to impose President's Rule in Manipur.

It is informed that office bearers of the BJP State unit discussed on the prevailing situation at a meeting last evening during which turbulent phase besieging Manipur at the current juncture as a consequence of the July 23 firing was also deliberated at length.

To ensure that the unstable situation being endured by the State public in the aftermath of firing by police commandos at the crowded market place is adequately highlighted at the Centre the BJP functionaries resolved to intimate Party's central leaders that a motion on the issue be put up during the Parliament session.

Talking to The sangai Express, State unit BJP president Dr Haobam Borbabu said taking the prevailing situation very seriously the meeting also focused on the ongoing public movement in protest against the BT Road firing and the suffering of the masses owing to the fluid law and order situation.

Noting that inspite of the firing incident having figured during the Zero Hour in the last Parliament session there is no desirable impact as yet, the former Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker confided that BJP Parliamentarians would be urged to put up a motion on the issue when the winter session commences next month.

Conveying BJP's moral support to the ongoing public agitation, Dr Borbabu further disclosed that decision had been taken at the Party level regarding participation of members of the BJP Mahila Morcha in protest demonstrations.

Referring to the forth-coming by-election for Yaiskul Assembly Constituency, he said inspite of the State BJP unit making all out effort to finalise on whether or not to contest the by-poll on its own there is strong possibility of striking a deal with nonCongress political parties.

Elucidating, the BJP leader said discussions are on to forge a tie with other political parties to put up a common candidate for the by-election in order to defeat Congress nominee.

the MPp has also discussed on the by-poll issue and resolved to contest the seat even though no decision was taken as to who would be its candidate.

It has been informed that the meeting strongly mooted on nominating a common candidate from amongst the opposition parties.
