Imphal, August 19 2024: A man has been pulled up by police for sharing defamatory photos and videos on social media sites.

Sanatomba Aheibam (23) s/o A Shyamkishore of Takyel Khongbal Maning Leikai, Imphal West was arrested by a team of Imphal police station on August 17 .

After his arrest, Sanatomba was produced before a Court which remanded him to police custody till August 20 .

Sanatomba was allegedly sharing vulgar and defamatory photos and videos on Facebook page "Manipuri Local Group Eramdam gi Pot" and Youtube channel "Meitei Kangleipak", informed a source.

Apart from sharing photos and videos from different sources, Sanatomba started sharing photos/videos of some individuals since May 15, 2022 .

Subsequently, the individuals lodged complaints at Imphal police station leading to Sanatomba's arrest.

Following the complaints, an FIR was registered against Sanatomba Aheibam under sections 67 and 67-A of the Information Technology Act.

The complainants also attached screenshots of the videos and photos shared by Sanatomba on the particular Facebook page and the Youtube channel to their complaints, said the source.
