Imphal, June 18:
The All Manipur Students' Union, (AMSU) has asked the government of India to withdraw the cease fire extension saying that it is the only way to end the present uprising which has engulfed the state and that lakhs of people are ready to sacrifice their lives to preserve the territorial integrity of the state.
Paying its last respect to the `martyrs', who made the supreme sacrifice to protect the territorial integrity of the state during the protest rally today, a statement issued today by the president and secretary general of the student union strongly condemned the firing on the, protester.
Terming the firing on the protesters as cowardice on the part of the administration, it said the government of India should be responsible for all the consequences that arose from the extension of the ceasefire as the extension was in defiance of the people's wishes and, mandate.
Various organizations, communities including AMSU, AMUCO, AMKIL, NIPCO, UPF, IPSA and various other organizations of the state are now prepared for a more extensive fight and at the same time condemned the imposition of curfew by the administration in an attempt to suppress the people's protest.
AMSU also call upon the people belonging to all communities residing in the state to stand unitedly and not to be carried away by the Indian government's `attempt to drive a wedge between various communities'.
The AMSU statement also warned the people against Indian government's `design' to start a feud between the brothers belonging to different communities, who have been living in the state in harmony for the last many centuries.
