Support from Opposition sought

Keirao AC MLA Lourembam Rameshwor Meetei has sought support from the Opposition party to resolve the crisis in Manipur which has been going on since May 3 last year.
Addressing a function at Kyamgei Mayai Leikai today after distributing school bags and health kits to students and flood victims today, Rameshwor Meetei who is also the chairman of Planning and Development Authority (PDA) continued that all political parties, be they in the ruling or the Opposition bench, must work together to safeguard the unity and integrity of the State.
It is not the time for the ruling and the Opposition to blame one another, he said.
Appealing to the two Congress MPs from Manipur to keep all political differences aside and lend a hand in restoring normalcy in Manipur, the MLA added that the ruling and the Opposition parties should not renounce one another when taking up welfare programmes for the people.
Politics can be done at the time of election, he added.
The school bags and health kits which were distributed were sponsored by IIT Kanpur, Oil India Limited and Unit of Science and Educational Development (UNISED) .
Chief Advisor of IIT Kanpur Md Altaf Khan and Chairman of Kyamgei Gram Panchayat Koijam Sobha attended the programme among others.
