Imphal, April 15 2021:
MLA Kh Joykisan has called upon all the people to join hands and exterminate all the drug smugglers and their kingpins who, driven by sheer greed, have been pushing an entire generation of youth into the jaws of death.
He was speaking at the release function of a calendar produced by the Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) on the theme 'Fight the Drug Lords, Save Our Youth'.
Speaking at the gathering held at his Khoyathong Pukhri Mapal residence today, Joykisan called upon all the people to focus full attention in uprooting those individuals who have been smuggling and dealing in drugs thereby threatening the whole Manipuri society.
The Nation can be saved only when the drug smugglers/dealers are uprooted completely irrespective of the volume of their illegal business, he asserted.
Expressing profound sorrow over the Mount Koubru issue, the MLA decried the stand-off which erupted sometime back over the sacred site of Lord Koubru.
The abode of Lord Koubru located atop Mount Koubru has been a sacred site of the Meiteis since time immemorial.
It is a matter of grave concern that some elements were trying to create an issue out of the sacred site which smacked of political conspiracy, he decried.
The RCC bridge which was dismantled a few days back should be repaired either by the Government or those people who dismantled it, he said.
Notably, an RCC bridge which connects to an entry point of Koubru mountain range was dismantled by some anti-social elements a few days back.
The Congress MLA then urged the Government to take up necessary action against uploading of provocative posts and comments in social media regarding the issue of Lord Koubru's abode.
He also noted with deep concern that the number of COVID-19 active cases has been rising steadily in the State.
Saying that another round of lockdown would prove to be extremely miserable to the masses for they have not yet fully recovered from the impacts of the previous lockdown, Joykisan urged one and all to take up all preventive measures and always follow the SOP.
On the other hand, development has been moving in reverse gear in the State.
None of the liabilities pending with PWD for 2020-21 have been released.
As such, contractors have already started staging protest agitation, he remarked.
The Government ought to come out with a clarification regarding where the budgetary allocation has been utilised and when the pending liabilities would be released, he said.
Joykisan went on to allege that the Works Minister has failed to uphold the dignity of State Assembly as the liabilities for construction of certain roads within Thangmeiband AC in 2018-19 and 2019-20 have not been released yet despite the assurance given by the Works Minister on the floor of the House that liabilities would be paid within the 'current year' .
