International Nurses Day observed

Ukhrul, May 14 2024:
The 'International Nurses Day' observance was held on the theme "Our Nurses, Our Future, the Economic Power of Care" today at DRDA conference hall, Mini Secretariat office complex Hamleikhong, Ukhrul jointly organised by the Trained Nurses of Ukhrul and Kamjong.
Delivering the welcome address, Shimray Wungreichon, president of Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI), Ukhrul branch stated that with the objective to strengthen and support the working nursing community for ensuring worthy health services, the TNAI Ukhrul branch was formed on May 10, 2024.Speaking at the occasion, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Ukhrul, Dr AS Kapangring expressed that the observation of International Nurses Day should be an occasion to reaffirm the pledge of committing oneself to selfless duty for humanity rather than confining it to mere functions.
He also dwelt on roles and responsibilities of nurses while discharging their services.
He maintained that nurses should be empathetic to a sick person so as to foster a healthy relationship with them thereby providing relief during their tough times.
Nurses should ensure to administer the patient with care, track the progress by following the necessary medication process, he added.
Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Ukhrul Kengoo Zuringla in her speech acknowledged the remarkable services of nurses in the health sector.
She further appealed to all nurses to deal with the patients with humility and cordiality, who are in need of their services.
Dr Reisangmi Raikhan MS Ukhrul District Hospital while speaking at the occasion, encouraged the nurses to continue to deliver their dedicated services and lauded their sincere efforts.
As a part of the programme, TNAI Ukhrul branch felicitated the recipient of Florence Nightingale Award - 2024 K Makreiwon and the State Awardee Nurses V Philangam, Songamla Keishing and Leishi Tamang of Ukhrul district.
Lamp lighting ceremony and nurses pledge were also administered.
During the programme, Rev Zaklei Kaping Pastor PBC, Ukhrul invoked special prayer for the health workers of the district.
Around 100 nurses from Ukhrul and Kamjong district including doctors, DLOs among others attended the programme.
