Imphal, February 05 2021: Eleven persons tested positive for COVID-19 while another 11 recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.

With this, the number of Covid positive cases has reached 29,110 while the recovered cases reached 28,625 .

On the other hand the number of people vaccinated today is 779 .

So far 6874 healthcare workers have been vaccinated which is about 57.08 percent of the target.

The number of active cases is 113 and the recovery rate stands at 98.33 percent.

With no deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the death toll remains at 372 .

Meanwhile, the 11 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 include 10 civilians and one Central security personnel.

They tested positive at testing facilities at Kakching (4), Thoubal (2), Tamenglong (2), Churachandpur (2) and Shija Hospital (1) .

The 10 civilians including 5 males and 5 females hail from Kakching (3), Thoubal (2), Tamenglong (2), Churachandpur (2) and Chandel (1), said Government COVID-19 Common Control Room.

On the other hand, the 11 persons who recovered from COVID-19 include 9 persons who were under home isolation.

The remaining 2 have been discharged from JNIMS (1) and SHRI (1), said the Government Covid report issued by Additional Director (Health) Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 29,110 including 25,684 civilians and 3,426 Central security personnel.

The cumulative number of recovered cases is 28,625 including 25,215 civilians and 3,410 Central security personnel.

The number of active cases is 113 including 101 civilians and 12 Central security personnel.

As per latest information, the number of people vaccinated today is 779.So far 6874 healthcare workers have been vaccinated which is about 57.08 percent of the target, said the Government report.

Vaccination has also started in other districts with the first vaccination programme for Noney district kicking off today at Noney PHC, under the supervision of Dr Edwin Golmei, CMO Noney.

Doctors, nurses & health workers including ASHAs & Anganwadi workers under Noney & Haochong PHC were vaccinated today in the first phase.

RK Bijeta Devi, District Program Manager (DPM) District Health Society Noney received the first jab while the last beneficiary vaccinated today was Mareilu Kamei, ASHA worker.

Altogether 32 beneficiaries from Noney PHC and 21 from Haochong PHC were vaccinated today out of 100 targeted.

The vaccination programme for Noney & Haochong will conclude tomorrow while the same for Khoupum & Nungba will be conducted on February 8 and 9.Dr S Pinky consultant WHO, Tamenglong and Noney dist also attended the programme.

KANGPOKPI : An Ayush pharmacist posted at District Hospital Kangpokpi became the first person to be vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine in the district as the Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi launched the vaccination drive today.

Naorem Sanayaima (48), son of (L) Mangi from Kakching district, an Ayush pharmacist posted at the District Hospital Kangpokpi became the first person to be vaccinated in the district.

The launch of 'COVID-19 Vaccination Programme 2021' for Kangpokpi district, organised under the aegis of District Health Society Kangpokpi was attended by DC Kangpokpi, Somorjit Salam who is also the Chairman of District Health Society Kangpokpi; James Doujapao Haokip, MCS, Chief Executive Officer, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council Kangpokpi and Dr J Touthang, District Immunization Officer, Kangpokpi as presidium members.

The first phase of the vaccination drive was administered to the health workers including medical and ICDS after the Deputy Commissioner formally launched the programme at Inspection Bungalow in the district headquarters, in the presence of medical officials, District Level Officers and various other civil society organization leaders of the district.

Addressing the programme, Somorjit Salam said that it was a momentous occasion for the country that the COVID-19 vaccine has been invented.

He continued that ever since the beginning of the pandemic, "we have been disturbed in all aspects of life and everyone prayed for the arrival of a vaccine to cure and eradicate the virus and today our prayer have been answered" .

The vaccination drive would take place on priority basis and the entire populace will be vaccinated.

Mohammad Abdul Kasim, Regional Project Officer, United Nations Development Programme stated that around 4000 health care workers have already been vaccinated so far in the State and no severe adverse reactions have been reported till date.

He mentioned that the vaccine is safe and urged the people to come forward for the vaccination and not be swayed by rumours.

James Doujapao Haokip lauded the tireless efforts and sacrifice of the health care workers, frontline workers and all involved in the fight against the pandemic.

Dr J Touthang highlighted that the Covishield vaccine is administered 0.5 ml per person.

He continued that around 2464 health care workers in the district will be vaccinated, then it will be administered to all the frontline workers and will continue till the entire populace of the district are vaccinated.

Dr J Touthang also stated that the vaccinated individuals were kept under observation for 30 minutes and the second dose will be vaccinated after 28 days from the first dose.

Altogether, 31 health care workers including doctors, nurses, etc and ICDS workers were vaccinated today.
