Imphal, November 02 2011: Inaugurating a number of offices at Jessami sub-divisional headquarters, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said there will be no paucity of development fund for the State.

On the first day of his two day State visit the Home Minister reached the Manipur-Nagaland border town this afternoon where he dedicated to the people a 33/11 KVA power sub-station, primary health centre, and offices of SDO/BDO, Tribal Development Block and Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) .

Addressing the gathering to whom he assured adequate fund from the Central Government, Chidambaram urged the people to ensure there is peace and harmony in the State so that development activities could be accelerated.

Listing education and healthcare, along with other sectors as essential criteria for Manipur to march ahead, he noted with delight that Manipur has achieved substantial progress in the last 10 years.

Strongly advocating sustaining the pace of progress in the coming years, the Union Minister said the country needs active contribution from the people of Manipur as is expected from an Indian citizen.

Expressing confidence that with the inauguration of the SDPO office criminal activities and traffic problems could be solved to a large extent, he also noted that people of Jessami would certainly benefit from the new power sub-station and PHC.

In his address at the occasion, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said he was determined to instal the power sub-station after people of Jessami apprised him on the poor power supply during a previous visit some 5-6 years back.

While conveying recent State Cabinet decision to upgrade Jessami High School to a higher secondary level in time for the next academic session, the Chief Minister suggested that there should be contribution from every section of the society to solve all outstanding issues which ultimately will strengthen the country's integrity.

Capitalising on the Home Minister's visit representatives of Chingai village submitted a memorandum proposing development works in the sub-division.

The memorandum is informed to have pointed out absence of basic infrastructure including staff quarters and poor power connectivity at various locations under Chingai sub-division.

AICC's North East in-charge Lozinho Faleiro and Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing also accompanied the Home Minister.
