COVID-19: First positive case detected in State

For the first time, a positive case of COVID-19 has been detected in the State.
Subsequently, curfew has been imposed in the entire State.
According to a statement issued by Health Director Dr K Rajo, a 23 year old woman of Thangmeiband Lourungpurel Leikai who came back from the United Kingdom recently tested positive for COVID-19 this morning.
The Health Director has also asked all those people who have had contact with the woman to call 9402880191, 2411668 and 1800345818 and put themselves under self-isolation.
The woman reached Imphal from Kolkata in an Air Asia flight on March 21 .
As soon as the woman was found to be positive for COVID-19, Health Department pulled up 12 persons including her family members and neighbours, and they have been placed in a quarantine centre.
The woman who is stu-dying in the UK landed at New Delhi on March 19 .
She also stayed one night at Kolkata together with her younger brother.
A swab collected from the woman was tested twice at JNIMS and it was found positive for COVID-19 in both the cases.
Reports say that the health condition of the COVID-19 patient has not shown any sign of deterioration and she is still without ventilator.
Some details of those people who travelled together with the woman in the same plane have been collected, informed a source.
The Health Department has also written to the Air Asia to provide more details of all co-passengers along with their phone numbers.
Informing that the surrounding areas of the woman's residence have been fumigated, the source conveyed that movement of people in and out of her locality has been banned.
Meanwhile, respective Deputy Commissioners have imposed curfew in all the districts of the State with immediate effect until further orders.
The State Government imposed complete lock-down across the State since yesterday in its efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Further tightening the lockdown, curfew was imposed across the State since 8 am today.
Apart from curfew imposed by the Government, people too imposed public curfews on their own volition in different localities of Imphal and greater Imphal areas.
