BSNL woes : Blame laid on officials

Moreh, July 08 2011: The frequent snapping of the Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) extending from Moreh to Imphal being faced by the people is on account of the failure of the officials concerned of the BSNL to pay necessary attention to the problem, leaders of various communities living in the border town have alleged.

Talking to mediapersons, the community leaders pointed out that the staff of the Telephone Exchange at Moreh themselves have expressed disappointment over the matter when they (community leaders) approached them to find out whether trenches, which are even less then 2 feet deep, being dug up for laying the OFC from the Telephone Exchange office upto to the tower near the office of Hill Tribal Council, Moreh, covering a distance of 2 kms and 500 metres is in accordance with the work specification or not.

The community leaders asserted that the shallowness of the trenches being dug up, that too, just along the side of National Highway 39, would not ensure any respite from the problem of frequent snapping of the cable being faced by the people of the border town when the road expansion work is undertaken.
