Imphal, April 07 2020: As lockdown continues to throw life out of gear in the State, many have come out to support and provide essential items to children at homes, inmates of old age homes, daily wage earners, tenants and neighbours.

All Manipuir Students' Union (AMSU) provided edible items and other relief materials to Yaibilen Children Home at Keibi Sanapat.

The relief materials were distributed kicking off AMSU's 30-day mission to help and assist those in need during the lockdown due to COVI-19 outbreak.

Being launched under the aegis of its president Peter Laishram, relief materials are being procured from the fund contributed by its volunteers, said a member of AMSU.

The student body will continue providing aid to children home, old age home and differently abled persons in the coming days, said the member.

Outside the State, Manipuri Meitei Association Bangaluru (MMAB) has also distributed distributed food packages to about 70 families in various areas of Bangalore - B Narayanapura, Sangayyanapalya, Mahadevapura, Electronic City, Ejipura, Koramangala etc, said a statement of the association today.

People of areas under Yurembam Zilla Parishad have been provided relief materials - potatoes, salt, fermented fish (Ngari), grain etc.

The relief materials were provided under the aegis of ex-MLA Konthoujam A/C Konthoujam Sarat Singh.

Local leaders Th Nillamani, Yurembam GP Pradhan M Deben, Manisana and others distributed the relief materials.

They also appealed people to stay at homes during the lockdown.

Kumaon Regiment Major Serto Glory and Captain S Manila Kom have distributed aids to Litan villagers in Chandel district, said our correspondent.

Meanwhile, Chandel police also helped load waste to garbage trucks at Chandel bazar areas, added our correspondent.

Kakching Khunou Municipal Council Ward No 8 Councillor Khumukcham Gojendro Singh has extended aids to about 300 households.

He distributed rice, edible oil, salt, potatoes etc.

402 households of Wanagai Kadajit were provided aids by Mayengbam Chandramani Meitei in association with Kadajit Youth Welfare Associated Club, Wabagai.

He distributed half litre of edible oil, 1 kg daal, one package of salt to each household.

Mayanglambam Raj, proprietor of PT Signage at Kakching Khunyai Leikai handed over 200 packages of Frooti and Appy to OC Kakching PS, AK Premjit.

The items were presented acknowledging the police personnel's dedication and duty towards effecting the lockdown, he said.

People of Ward No 12, Kakching Municipal Council were provided aids by KMC Chairperson Naorem Sanjitkumar.

Kakching Range Forest under the aegis of Thoubal Forest Division provided aids to an orphan home near Kakching Dag Bangla run by Backward Development Services.

100 kg of rice, 10 kg daal, 8 kg potatoes, 8 kg salt were provided to the home.

Range Forest Officer N Munal Meitei, Deputy Ranger BO Pallel Md Sallau, Deputy Ranger BO Wangoo Lamkhai Md Aslam Khan, BO Waikhong N Brojen Singh and other officials and staff were resent.

United Aroma Commercial Company (UNACCO) Group has distributed relief materials to the locals of Chanung Village in Imphal East district today with an aim to ease the shortage of essential supply during the lockdown due to COVID-19.6 bags of rice, 4 bags of potatoes, 2 bags of pulses provided by N Irabanta, managing director UNACCO Group was distributed to around 400 residents through Chanung Sintha Club.

He also donated a sum of Rs 5,000 to the club.

N Irabanta maintained that the noble campaign was aimed at reducing the hardships faced by the residents of the area during the lockdown which has been imposed to tackle the spread of COVID-19.While appealing everyone to support the State Government in fighting the new disease, he urged the locals to strictly follow the orders and guidelines issued by authorities concerned.

He also urged everyone to help one another during such a crucial junction.
