Imphal, May 06 2011:
An old age pension Scheme beneficiary, whose six monthly accumulated entitlement stands at Rs 1200, has alleged that he was paid only Rs 1110 without any explanation from officials concerned on the deduction.
eighty-three years old Ksh Budhiman of Keishampat Keisham Leikai today trudged into the office of The Sangai Express to disclose that he was denied his actual pension amount.
Informing that officials of Social Welfare Department normally releases old age pension to the beneficiaries for a period of six months and his accumulated amount is fixed at Rs 1200, he also contended that pension amount from May to October 2010 has not been paid so far.
Doubting sincerity of the Social Welfare Department authorities, Budhiman questioned as to whether the denial has anything to do with the Central Government not providing the pension fund.
Asserting that higher authorities of the department should explain as to why Rs 90 has been deducted from the six monthly entitlement and whether the reduction is due to any new policy, the pensioner opined that aged citizens should not be discriminated.
