Kangpokpi, November 27 2021: District Council Administration, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi on Saturday successfully conducted the 8th Kangpokpi Town Committee Member Election 2021-2024.The election was held following the expiry and dissolution of the 7th Kangpokpi Town Committee with effect from November 30 by the caretaker chairman, Haokholal Hangshing with Th Lhingkhonei, additional chief executive officer, Sadar Hills ADC as returning officer and Limminthang Haokip, in-charge Town executive officer as assistant returning officer.

The polling conducted through secret ballot began at 8:00am in the morning in all the eighteen polling stations while the Returning Officer accompanied by Assistant Returning Officer and officials of Sadar Hills ADC inspected the polling stations and monitored the smooth conduct of voting.

Kangpokpi Town Committee election held

The counting began at 1:00pm after prayer from Church leaders in the presence of RO, ARO and three neutral observers from Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship and two from Senior Citizens Kangpokpi.

Later, after the scrutiny of votes, the Returning Officer officially declared the elected members from each Ward.

Paokhomang Kipgen was elected as member of the 8th Kangpokpi Town Committee from Ward No 1; Seipu Kipgen from Ward No 2; Chonkam Kipgen from Ward No 3; Helkhomang Hangshing from Ward No 4; Manggougin Misao from Ward No 6; Tolminthang Misao from Ward No 7; Angam Leivon from Ward No 8; Thangkhohao Hangshing from Ward No 9; Seilam Singsit from Ward No 11; Seijang Sitlhou from Ward No 12; Satngam Kipgen from Ward No 13; Seingam Singsit from Ward No16 and Lunthang Hangshing from Ward No17.Lalkholen Kipgen from Ward No 2; D Paominlal from Ward No10; Thangjangam Lhanghal from Ward No 14; Seijahen Singsit from Ward No 15 and Nehkhotinsei (Seibem) from Ward No 18 were also elected.

With the creation of five new wards recently through amalgamation and bifurcation of the existing wards, there are now 18 Wards in Kangpokpi town.
