NSCN (IM) has killed more people than SFs: MNPF
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, September 27 2021: While condemning in the strongest term the abduction and brutal murder of former Zeliangrong Baudi president Athuan Abonmai on September 22, the Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) has categorically stated that the number of Naga people killed by security forces is exceeded by the victims of homicide committed by NSCN (IM) .

A statement issued by MNPF publicity secretary Thomas Numai asserted that the brutal killing of Abonmai without putting him in any form of trial exposed the political immaturity of NSCN (IM) even as they claim to be a 'government' in itself (GPRN) .

By executing a community leader summarily, NSCN (IM) committed treason not only against the particular community but also itself, it said.

Taking full advantage of the ceasefire with the Government of India, they (NSCN-IM) have been moving freely and they have executed many popular leaders.

Such nefarious activities testify that NSCN (IM) is no longer struggling for Naga sovereignty but they have been securing and enhancing their own sources of livelihood by sponsoring candidates of their choice in elections held under the Indian Constitution, Thomas Numai said.

He remarked that the Naga people would have achieved sovereignty long time back if the homicide committed by NSCN (IM) took its movement to Naga sovereignty any closer.

The MNPF categorically stated that the number of Naga people killed by Indian security forces in the course of the Naga sovereignty movement is far exceeded by the number of Naga people executed by NSCN (IM) .

Pointing out that any notion to control the masses by guns and bullets in this age is highly misplaced, Thomas Numai asserted that the Naga people have been working in a very mature manner as compared to the NSCN (IM).

If the killing and abduction of Athuan Abonmai happened in Nagaland, Naga people would have certainly set ablaze all the camps of NSCN (IM) and chased all their cadres away as indicated by such repeated incidents which took place in Nagaland earlier.

As a consequence of their repeated misdeeds and harassment of civilians, NSCN (IM) no longer enjoys any support from the Naga people of Nagaland.

The Naga people of Manipur may also run out of their patience if they (NSCN-IM) continue with their atrocities and summary execution of people, it warned.

Out of the huge amounts of money collected from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur, many NSCN (IM) leaders have transformed themselves as bourgeois and capitalists, the MNPF asserted.

At present, NSCN (IM) has their battalion headquarters and regional offices in Tamenglong, Senapati, Ukhrul and Chandel districts and they have been running an 'administration' of their own openly.

The alleged puppet State Government seems to be feigning ignorance that NSCN (IM)'s order far outweighs their own order in many Naga dominated areas of the State, it remarked.

The MNPF is fully aware that all the groups who have entered into ceasefire agreement with the Government of India would never achieve their objective but slowly fade into oblivion.

Manipur which existed as an independent country for thousands of years should never go for political dialogue with the Government of India except on the agenda of complete sovereignty.

This is a lesson learnt from the past, Thomas Numai said.

It then appealed to all the stakeholders to work collectively so that the revolutionary movement does not fall into any trap of India.
