CGI roofing sheets distributed, monetary assistance provided to hailstorm affected people

As a part of the relief measures taken up by the Government to provide aid to the people affected by the devastating hailstorm of May 5, CGI roofing sheets were distributed to hailstorm affected households of Phubala Gram Panchayat in Moirang AC today.
Moirang AC MLA Thongam Shanti distributed CGI roofing sheets to the affected residents of Phubala Gram Panchayat for the third phase.
The distributed CGI sheets were handed over to the District Administration by the State Government.
The distribution programme for beneficiaries of Phubala Ward no 1,2,3 and 4 was held at Ibudhou Loktak Maru Laibung and at Sunushiphai Bazar shed for beneficiaries of Sunushiphai Ward no 5 and 6 while the distribution programme for the beneficiaries of Naranseina Ward no.7,8,9 and 10 was held at Ereima Ima Laibung.
Speaking at the occasion, Thongam Shanti said that as per the directives of the Government, the CGI sheets are distributed to the hailstorm affected people in a phase wise manner.
The MLA informed that priority is given to those whose houses and properties have been severely damaged and maintained that monetary aid will be provided to those whose houses were partially damaged.
He also briefed about the relief measures from his side such as distribution of tarpaulin sheets, construction of houses which were ravaged and so on.
Distribution of CGI sheets for remaining households of Ngangkhalawai Gram Panchayat which have not been covered today will be done later, he said.
Thoubal
Meanwhile, in a bid to extend help in renovating the houses damaged by heavy rain and hailstorm of May 5, VDF Welfare Association, Thoubal District provided monetary aid to 86 VDF personnel whose houses were affected.
The monetary assistance of Rs 1,72,000 was provided to the affected VDF personnel in continuation of the humanitarian aid extended by the association in times of need under the aegis of Senior SP Thoubal Rakesh Balwal, IPS.
The monetary assistance was provided today in a simple ceremony held at Thoubal District Police Headquarters attended by Senior SP Thoubal Rakesh Balwal, IPS; Additional SP (LO) Thoubal, Suraj; RI, RO, ARO and officers of the association.
Speaking in connection with the programme, Thoubal District VDF Welfare Association president Md Idrish expressed that many of the houses of VDF personnel were severely affe ted by the devastating hailstorm of May 5.Highlighting that the VDF personnel have been facing immense inconvenience at times of crisis/calamities as they manage their households barely with their low honorarium, he urged the Chief Minister to address the plights of the VDF personnel.
