Imphal, March 27 2010: The Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) today distributed CGI Sheets to 25 families below the property line of hill villages on its two years completion since its existence at a function held at Manipur Press Club, Major Khul.

Four bundles of CGI-Sheets were given to the 25 BPL families selected from five hill districts of the state, five families from each districts.

The function commemorating the second years of foundation of ICHAM was attended by its advisor, K Madhumangol, Chief Advisor and P Shimray as chief guest and president respectively.

Other advisors of the Centre, BB Sharma, Brozendro Ningomba, Khellen Thokchom, Arun Erengbam and Khogendro Khondram attended as guests of honour.

In his key note address of the celebration, ICHAM's president, N Rajendro expressed gratitude on the supports and co-operation received by the Centre during the two years of serving the people in the remote areas of the state.

He also said that the CGI-Sheets were given to 25 families of hill villages selected among the BPL families across the five hill districts with the determination of the Centre to extend helps to the poor section of the society.

The beneficiary families were selected from more suffering families detected by the volunteers of ICHAM during its tour to address the grievances of the people of remote hill areas, he observed.

There was gap of closeness between the hill and valley people due to misunderstanding as experienced by ICHAM during its tour across the remote villages in the hill areas.

He also stressed the need for research to the history of Manipur together to know the origins of people residing together in the state.

ICHAM is able to function in the hill areas as its joined hands with the people there under the theme of togetherness for prosperity.

He also claimed that during the two years of existence of the Centre, many development works at various villages in the hill areas have been performed.

Despite all this, there is still the need to go ahead and work together for enhancing development in the reasons.

ICHAM is targeting to work more to achieve the goal with the help of the well wishers, he said.

Speaking as chief guest of the function, ICHAM advisor, K Madhumangol lauded ICHAM for the works it had performed which had given light of development in many villages in the far flung areas of the state.

He also wished the Centre to go on with its helping hand to the poor and needy people of the state as well to the backward areas.

Irengbam Arun, speaking as guest of honour observed that if takes helps from RTI Act to know the development funds invested in the hill areas, the blame of hill people of valley people siphoning off the funds could be pass over.

Lets ICHAM take a great role in this field, he called for.

Borzendro Ningomba, in his address to the gathering observed that there are many places which Manipur government did not take up any developmental programme.

ICHAM is collecting the information with the grievances and convey it to the government.

The works done by ICHAM for the remote areas is laudable.

State government should also take up appropriate action as per reports placed by the Centre.

Only assurance without action will not bring development and peace in the region, he commented.

He also observed the works performed by the ICHAM will help a lot in strengthening the love bond between the hill and valley people.

On the occasion, president N Rajendro also paid Rs 10,000 to a scribe of Sanaleibak, P Noubi currently under recovery stage after he met with an accident sometime back.
