Imphal, July 20: A strong delegation of the United Committee Manipur, UCM, which is also an apex body of six prominent organizations spearheading the anti ceasefire movement has sought the resignation of the Union Minister of State for food processing.

The Chaoba, on moral ground before the Parliament session commences on July 23.The UCM leaders also met Union Home Minister LK Advani and pressed for withdrawal of the truce from the state�s territory.

The UCM leaders who are now in New Delhi, made this demand during a well attended press conference at the Press Club here.

Chaoba, who is the lone MP from Manipur in the NDA government, was asked to resign his pose to show solidarity with the people of Manipur who are demanding the withdrawal of the Naga truce from Manipur.

a second team of the UCM which flew to New Delhi yester day in a late night press release also demanded the resignation of the Governor , Bed Marwah.

The UCM team leader, RK Ranendrajit, vehemently denied there was a mass exodus of Nagas from the Manipur Valley and said this was part of a communal campaign by vested interest on tarnish the historic people�s movement in Manipur.

Ranendrajit also told the pressmen that the people�s movement in the state for the protection of the state�s territory is a democratic one.

He said the agitation is also for the preservation of the age-old fraternity between the different communities in the state.

The UCM leader also blamed the Centre for turning a deaf ear to the democratic voice of the people.

He also criticized the government of India for its appeasement policy towards the NSCN(IM).

Ramendrajit said the proposed Parliamentary resolution to protect the territory of the state is only an �eyewash� and not acceptable.

In another faxed press release late this evening, the UCM reacting to the firing on students today in which one was killed and over a hundred injured, demanded the immediate resignation of the Governor, Ved Marwah.

The release signed by convenor, Sapamcha Jaduamani, convenor Udoy Thongam and convenor Kh Ratan, said the Governor did nothing to stop a rally from Nagaland, into Manipur territory, but allowed incidents like today�s and that of June 18 to happen.

The release said the Governor was sowing the seeds for a rift amongst the people of the state.
