Moirang, April 20 2025:
A Joint Action Committee, formed in connection with the death of Kh Priyaluxmi in Delhi's Sunlight Colony, has urged the Governor and Chief Secretary to intervene for strict investigation of the case.
Khangembam Priyaluxmi Devi (20) hailed from Ngaikhong Siphai, Bishnupur, and she had been staying in Delhi since October last year and working at a BPO company in Noida.
She allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the terrace of a building in southeast Delhi's Sunlight Colony yesterday, according to the police.
Today, speaking to reporters at the office of the Rural Youth Development Organisation (RYDO) at Ngaikhong Siphai, the co-convenor of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against the Brutal Killing of Kh Priyaluxmi, N Bishrup said the death is suspicious and the case must be investigated to punish the all culprits involved.
There have been many cases of discrimination and killing of people of Manipur and North-East in outside States.
The death of Priyaluxmi yesterday is suspicious, and she must have been killed.
The case must be investigated thoroughly to find out the truth and punish all the persons responsible for her death, Bishrup said, seeking the attention of the Governor and the Chief Secretary.
Meanwhile, Bishrup said, the JAC has come across different disturbing posts and comments on social media platforms in which the deceased has been shown in bad light.
No person should post comments about the deceased and her family based on rumours.
The comments have hurt the sentiments of the family members who are mourning the departure of their loved one, Bishrup said.
Persons who have made such comments must delete their posts.
If the posts/comments are not deleted, then the JAC would take legal actions against them, he warned.
He further appealed to State organisations in Delhi to take appropriate steps to prevent such cases from happening in the future.
JAC convenor Takhellambam Surjit Mangang and family members of Priyaluxmi were present in the press meet.
