37,323 candidates to appear in HSLC Examination, control room set up to liaise all exam related matter: Education Director

Imphal, February 19 2019: The High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLC), 20019 conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) will commence from tomorrow, February, 20 and will end on March, 15, 2019.Addressing the media, during a press meet at the office of Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM), Babupara, its Chairman Th Kirankumar Singh extended his best wishes to all the students appearing in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLC), 2019.Stating that all necessary steps have been taken up for a smooth conduct of the examination, he said that the examination will be held in 139 examination centres.

All together 37,323 (Thirty seven thousand three hundred and twenty three) candidates will be appearing the exam out of which 18, 452 (Eighteen thousand four hundred and fifty two) are male and 18, 871 (Eighteen thousand eight hundred and seventy one) are female candidates.

Control room has also been opened to liaise all examination related matter, he said, adding that the numbers of the control room are 9612021357, 7085351439 and 7005786142.Highlighting the changes made in the examination, the Chairman said that all the private examination centres have been converted to Board centres thereby, dissolving the private examination committee.

He also announced that there is change in the norms of paper evaluation of the Science and Social Science subjects.

Papers will be evaluated by subject specific teachers of each branches of Science - physics, biology and chemistry and history, geography, civic and economic in Social Science, he added.

Th Kirankumar Singh also informed that CCTV cameras will be installed at every evaluation centres.

He said by doing so it will help in checking the punctuality of the examiners during the evaluation period and monitor the numbers of paper being evaluated.

He further stated that for smooth and fair conduct of examination, the officials have been teamed up in six (6) different categories, Supervising Officers, Officers in Charge of Centres, Assistant OCs, Supervising Investigators, Invigilators and Flying squads.

He appealed to the concerned officials of each team to carry out their duties honesty and sincerity for a peaceful and efficient conduct of the Examination.

He warned that if any malpractices are reported then strict action will be taken up against the school including de-recognizing by BSEM.

Punitive action will also be taken on the persons involved, he added.

Kirankumar also urged the parents not to indulge in any kind of malpractices like cheating and lobbying to get a good result.

He also sought for maximum support and cooperation from all the stakeholders, CSOs and appeal not to call bandh, blockade or agitation that could disrupt the examination.

The Chairman also appealed to the District Administration to impose Section 144 of CrPC around the vicinity of the examination centres.

He urged the DGP to issue strict warning to the OCs of police station where confidential materials are deposited and instruct the Superintendents of police of every police station to deploy police personnel to protect all the examination centers.

Secretary BSEM, Dr Chithung Mary Thomas and controller of examinations, K Tiken Singh also attended the press conference.
