76th Independence Day celebrated across the State

Bpr/Ccp/Jrm/Kak/Kmjzknp/Non/Phz/Spi/Tpl/Thb/Ukh, August 16 2022: Several districts of the State joined the rest of the country in celebrating the 76th Independence Day with much pomp and grandeur yesterday.

Bishnupur
The District Administration of Bishnupur celebrated 76th Independence Day with patriotic fervour at Mini Secretariat Complex in Bishnupur yesterday.

Deputy Commissioner Lourembam Bikram hoisted the National flag and took salute from the 17 participating parade contingents commanded by SDPO Bishnupur, Manoj Prabhakar IPS.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Lourembam Bikram said that the district has been conferred the prestigious 'PM Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2021' for best performance in implementation of 'Promoting Excellence in Sports and Wellness through Khelo India Scheme'.

Commendations certificates were distributed to government officials and staff for distinguished service in the last one year.

Kwasiphai Youth Voluntary Organisation also presented a cultural item during the observance.

Churachandpur
The occasion marking 75 years of independence was celebrated with a districtlevel program held at Public Ground, Hiangtam Lamka.

Notably, Dr Sharath Chandra Arroju, Deputy Commissioner of the district hoisted the National flag and took the Rashtriya Salute as the chief guest from the parade contingents.

Priscilla Tuboi, MPS, SDPO Churachandpur commanded the 17 march past contingents.

Other highlights of the program included cultural items from different communities and bamboo dance from the Young Mizo Association.

The chief guest also gave away appreciation certificates to 116 persons including journalists and community groups in recognition of their commendable services.

Jiribam
District Administration of Jiribam celebrated the day at Jiribam Higher Secondary School Playground today.

W Malemnganba Chenglei, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam hoisted the tri- colour and took salute from the marching contingents commanded by TS Chamna Anal, MPS, SDPO, Jiribam.

Altogether 13 contingents participated in the march past.

Commendations and Appreciation certificates were awarded to 62 government employees of various departments in recognition of their valuable services rendered to Jiribam district.

As part of the celebration, Manipur Today special issue published by DIPR Manipur was also distributed to the gathering.

Kakching
District Administration, Kakching celebrated the day at Sumak Leikai Ground, Kakching on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner, Kakching Somorjit Salam, IAS who graced the celebration as chief guest hoisted the National flag.

Addressing the gathering, Somorjit Salam stated that in terms of providing free household tap connections, Kakching is leading amongst all district.

Further, under the Swachh Baharat Mission, Kakching has been awarded as the cleanest district in the whole of North East and have the highest Covid-19 vaccination coverage.

Kamjong
Kamjong district celebrated the independence day in a grand manner at the Kamjong Higher Secondary School playground organised by the District Administration Kamjong under the theme "Nation First, Always First".

Deputy Commissioner Rangnamei Rang Peter paid tribute to the supreme sacrifices of freedom fighters.

Taking the opportunity, the DC expressed his happiness on the attendance of Kamjong's pride Solimla Jajo and Solan Jajo at the district-level celebration.

The celebration was also held at the sub-divisional headquarters and other governmental institutions of the district.

Kangpokpi
At Kangpokpi, the day was celebrated yesterday at Brig M Thomas Ground in Kangpokpi District Headquarters.

Kengoo Zuringla, Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi set the mood by hoisting the tricolor amidst cheers and applause accompanied by the National Anthem beautifully sung by the students of JNV Kangpokpi.

During the celebration various awards were handed out by Kengoo Zuringla, Amrita Sinha, IPS, SP Kangpokpi and N Ganesh, IFS, DFO Kangpokpi.

Village chiefs, ex-ADC Sadar Hills Chairman, Haokholal Hangshing, KTC, KWWO, KYU, and various district civil society organizations, apart from the district level officers also attended the occasion. Noney
District Administration Noney on Monday also joined the 76th Independence Day celebration of India at Longmai common ground, Noney.

Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, DC Noney Haulianlal Guite highlighted the significance of celebrating the independence day every year.

A total of 13 contingents took part in today's parade that 'included police, students, 12 Assam Rifles band party and 2 cultural troupes.

Additional SP Law and Order Namsadai Peter was the parade commander of the function.

Awards were also distributed to persons for their distinctive contribution in various fields during the function.

There were also cultural dance and song presentation as part of the function.

Pherzawl
In Pherzawl, the 76th Independence Day was celebrated by maintaining the prescribed SOPs at Pherzawl Playground.

The Deputy Commissioner of Pherzawl, Joseph Pauline Kamson hoisted the National tricolour.

He highlighted the many flagship initiatives taken up across the district and lauded PHC Sibapurikhal and CHC Parbung under the leadership of the CMO for bagging the prestigious Kayakalp Award & Commendation.

The DC also said that the district had achieved more than 85% COVID-19 vaccination.

Distribution of credential certificates to 67 officials/staff of Pherzawl District Administration and cultural performances marked the occasion.

I-Day celebration was also celebrated across the District at Sub-Divisional headquarters.

Amongst others, A Ghanashyam Sharma, MPS, SP Pherzawl; DLOs; CSOs and Chief/Chairman of different villages attended the grand Independence Day Celebration.

Senapati
The District Administration, Senapati also joined the rest of the districts in celebrating the 76th Independence Day at Mini Stadium, Senapati.

The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Senapati Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS as the chief guest.

Other attendees include Karthik Malladi, IPS, Senapati, DLO's, CSO'S, and Village Authorities.

Commendation certificate were handed over to 27 police personnel and 43 government officer/ officials along with prizes to the winners of the painting competition conducted during Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.

A showcase of cultural dance was also performed by Nepali girls and Poumai Naga women.

33 AR Band Party, Maram showcased their musical drill.

Later, an exhibition football match between the District Administration, Senapati and Civil Society Organisation was held at the Mini Stadium.

Separately, the Lairouching SDO Block Office also celebrated its first Independence Day within the premises of the office with A Nelia, Sub-Deputy Collector as the chief guest.

Thoubal
At Thoubal the day was celebrated at Thoubal District Headquarter and the main function was held at Mini Secretariat Complex, Thoubal.

A Subhash Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Thoubal addressed the gathering and highlighted the achievements and contributions of various departments in the District.

The DC urged Government employees to be introspective about their respective contribution to the society.

He said they should perform their duties sincerely and work for the welfare of the society.

Appreciation and commendable certificates were distributed to 118 staffs and officials of various departments and Manipur Today Special Issue published by DIPR were also distributed to the gathering.

Tengnoupal
The day was observed at the grounds of Tengnoupal Government High School with Mannuamching, DC as the chief guest.

The DC informed that National flags are hoisted in 16 Amrit Sarovar ponds within the district to mark the occasion of India's 76th Independence Day.

The celebration parade was led by Yumnam Premjit Singh, MPS, Additional SP(OPS), Tengnoupal.

The parade was participated by 11 ( eleven) contingents by 3 government school students, police, 4 Self Help Groups and a band contingent of the Assam Rifles, Tengnoupal Youth Club and Karate Do, Moreh.

Ukhrul
Citizens of Ukhrul on Monday thronged at Bakshi Ground to celebrate the 76th Independence Day.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Ukhrul Krishna Kumar who attended as the chief guest hoisted the National flag and highlighted all the development works executed in the district.

He further enlightened the gathering about welfare schemes provided by the State Government for the well being of the citizens.

Folk dance, pipe band display and cultural shows marked the celebration event.

As part of the day, friendly football exhibition match between DC, Ukhrul and SP team was organised after the celebration.
