Imphal, July 10 2024: Protesting against excessive monetary demands on Saraswati Institute of Management & Paramedical Science (SIMPS), Pangei students, teachers and staff of SIMPS staged a demonstration in front of the institute today.

The protestors wielded placards bearing messages such as "Stop serving monetary demands on educational institutions" and "Make education sector an extortion-free zone" among others.

During the protest, Administrative Officer M Monica highlighted the plight of the students and staff due to immense pressure on the institute to pay large sums of money.

Meanwhile, an unnamed BSc Nursing student shared that a majority of the students at SIMPS cannot afford to study outside the State.

She expressed worry that the students will have to bear the brunt if the institution shuts down due to such exorbitant monetary demands.

She appealed to all organisations and individuals to refrain from causing any issues in the education sector and allow students to carry out their academic pursuits in a free environment.
