Assembly Election 2022: Polling teams dispersed to various places

Jbm/Spi/Thb/Ukl, March 04 2022: Polling officials and security personnel detailed for duty in 40-Jiribam Assembly Constituency for the second phase of 12th Manipur Assembly Election 2022 to be conducted on March 5 were dispersed from Jiribam DC Complex today.

Speaking on the occasion, District Election Officer Jiribam, W Malemngnaba Chenglei appealed to all eligible voters to come forward for the election and exercise their democratic right with any fear.

Stating that the polling personnel were dispersed following all the guidelines issued by Election Commission of India, the DEO also informed that out of the total 40 polling stations in Jiribam AC, 5 polling stations will be managed exclusively by women.

During the programme, EDC were also distributed to police personnel and Government Officials deployed for election duty along with other necessities.

The flag off ceremony was attended by Superintendent of Police Jiribam, Ksh Ravikumar Singh, IPS; Additional Deputy Commissioner Jiribam, Jamesson Hangsing, MCS; Returning Officer Jiribam, S Indrajit Singh, MCS; District Information Officer Jiribam, N Bidyananda Singh; ZEO Jiribam, Th Amurashi Chanu; Assistant Returning Officer Jiribam, M Devananda Singh and Kh Ibotombi Singh.

It may be mentioned that 4 candidates namely Nameirakpam Budhachandra Singh (BJP), Makakmayum Abbas Khan (NPP), MLA Md Achab Uddin (JDU) and Badrur Rahman (INC) are contesting in 40-Jiribam AC.

SENAPATI
Polling personnel assigned for duty in the 3 Assembly constituencies of Senapati district for the second phase of Assembly Election were dispersed from Mini Stadium, Senapati today.

Altogether 15,8854 voters will cast their votes across 228 polling stations in the district on Saturday to decide the fate of 12 candidates.

It may be mentioned that out of 228 polling stations in the district, 3 polling stations have been designated as model polling stations while 47 polling stations will be manned by women personnel.

A total of 912 polling personnel along with 1 ASHA worker each in every polling station, 33 Sector Officer and Sector Police Officer, Micro-observers and 50 companies of security personnel have been deployed for the smooth conduct of election.

THOUBAL
Polling personnel deployed for duty in the 10 Assembly Constituencies of Thoubal and Kakching districts for the second phase of the Manipur Assembly Elections were dispersed from Mini Secretariat DC Complex, Basu Ground Khangabok and Chouyaima Higher Secondary Ground today.

A total of 3,24,561 (3,20,338 as per our correspondent) voters will cast their votes across 391 polling stations of Thoubal and Kakching district on Saturday to decide the fate of 46 candidates.

Out of 391 polling stations in 10 assembly constituencies across Thoubal and Kakching districts, 71 polling stations will be fully manned by women polling personnel.

Adhering to COVID-19 SOPs, every polling station in the two districts will be sanitised before the voting process begins and voters will be provided hand sanitizer and face mask if required.

Meanwhile, DC Thoubal also informed that 12 Counting Halls (6 halls for EVM and 6 halls for Postal Ballot) have been prepared for counting the votes of the two districts.

Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur Rajesh Agarwal also inspected the dispersal point of polling personnel and took stock of poll preparedness in the two districts.

Prominent leaders whose fate will be sealed on Saturday includes three time Chief Minister and CLP leader Okram Ibobi Singh (INC) who is locked in a four-corner contest for the Thoubal AC.

Wangkhem AC has the highest number of candidates contesting with 8 candidates in the fray, while 6 candidates are contesting in Kakching AC.

5 candidates each in Lilong AC and Hiyanglam AC are contesting.

3 candidates each are in fray in Wangjing Tentha AC, Khangabok AC and Sugnoo AC.

Former ministers Thokchom Radeshyam (BJP), Moirangthem Okendro(INC), Kangujam Ranjit (INC) and Mohd Abdul Nasir (JDU) are also in the fray.

UKHRUL
Polling officials and security personnel detailed for duty in 43-Phungyar, 44-Ukhrul and 45-Chingai Assembly Constituencies were dispersed from Ukhrul District Headquarters today.

Adequate arrangement of security personnel including unarmed police forces have been assigned for election duty at 219 polling stations in the 3 ACs of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.

Altogether 12,9141 voters will decide the fate of 12 candidates on March 5 .

It might be mentioned that 5 candidates are contesting in 43-Phungyar AC, 3 candidates in 44-Ukhrul AC and 4 candidates in 45-Chingai AC.

Besides, polling officials and security personnel detailed for duty in 42-Tengnoupal AC for the second phase of Manipur Assembly Election have reached Moreh on Thursday.

Further, the personnel were dispatched today from Moreh to their respective polling stations in various remote villages of Tengnoupal AC .
