Imphal, February 28 2023: Thokchom Sonia, one of the accused persons in the murder case of Aging, has been remanded in judicial custody till March 14 .

Members of the Joint Action Committee constituted in connection with the brutal murder of Akoijam Nongnganba alias Aging staged a demonstration when accused Thokchom Sonia was produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Kangpokpi today.

She was produced in the Court along with a prayer for judicial custody remand.

A large number of Kangpokpi police personnel including women cops were deployed in the complex to prevent any kind of unwanted incident.

Thokchom Sonia Devi, 40, d/o Th Shantikumar of Kwakeithel Thokchom Lei-kai was produced in the Court under a very tight security after completion of police custody period.

Through an APP, the IO of the case submitted that investigation has revealed Th Sonia's alleged involvement in the criminal conspiracy of abducting and murdering the victim, together with Stephen Dang- mei and Mosses Gonmei.

The APP also submitted that Th Sonia did not cooperate with the investigation process in police custody.

Th Sonia's role in the murder case is still under investigation, said the APP .

The statements given by the accused to the IO of the case have lots of contradictions with the facts of the case at many crucial periods and her role in the murder case is still under investigation, said the APP asking the Court for remanding her in judicial custody.

The Court, on perusal of the case records and submissions, remanded Th Sonia in judicial custody till March 14 for further investigation of the case.

Meanwhile, angry JAC members and family members of the victim who were present outside the Court complex tried to block the vehicle carrying Th Sonia and shouted slogans demanding befitting punishment to all involved in the case.
