Transporters urge co-operation of all on Imphal-Jiribam route

The Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) has appealed villages and people along Imphal-Jiribam road to extend maximum cooperation to the drivers of the buses engaged in ferrying stranded people amid COVID-19 lockdown.
TDC president Hijam Ranjit made the appeal while distributing relief materials to drivers at Langjing bus parking area where buses engaged in ferrying the returnees from Jiribam are stationed.
TDC provided each bus with 5 kilograms of rice, 1 Kg potatoes, 20 litre jar of drinking water, hand sanitiser, masks and monetary aid of Rs 1,500 .
Lauding the drivers' service and dedication during COVID-19 pandemic, he said that public must understand the hardships they are facing daily on the road while ferrying the returnees from Jiribam to their respective home districts.
"The service they are rendering knows no religion or caste, they ferry people (returnees) of all districts and help them reach home.
They should be encouraged for their service and dedication during this trying times," he said.
Encouraging the drivers to keep their morals high, he said villages along Imphal-Jiribam should not stigmatise them but help and assist them and the passengers.
He also thanked Government, NGOs and civil society organisations who assisted and extended help to the drivers.
All Manipur Road Transporters, Drivers and Motor Workers Union, secretary, Maimom Anil also lauded the drivers and thanked Helping Hand Kangleipak and All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) for their assistance.
He also appealed villages along Imphal-Jiribam road to extend all possible assistance and cooperate with the drivers and help them ferry the stranded people who have just reached the State.
