Gardeners skill training kicks off at ICAR

Imphal, September 25 2017:
A 200 hours Gardeners Skill Training was inaugurated today at ICAR, Manipur Centre by K Kipgen, Director, Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation as chief guest and Dr N Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre as president .
Sponsored by NEC funded project on "Promotion of Integrated Horticulture Farming System In Shifting Cultivation Areas Of Manipur", Department Of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, the training programme is being organized by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre .

A total of 28 trainees from different hill districts are participating in the training which will be continued up to October 24 .
Giving the welcome and keynote address, Dr SS Roy, Scientist (Horticulture) explained the objectives and curricula of the training as designed by Agriculture Skill Council of India .
Speaking at the inaugural function, K Kipgen lauded ICAR for organizing the training and also explained the importance and benefits of skill training and his expectations from the participants .
Dr Prakash stated the achievements of Skill India programme of Government of India and informed that the training has been designed with more practical and less theory session with the concept "Learning by doing" .
He also requested the trainees to feel free for asking questions and clearing their doubt during the course of learning .
The programme ended with vote of thanks given by A Rajlakshmi Devi, CTO, ICAR, Manipur Centre.
The function was also attended by Dr Susheel Kumar Sharma, Dr Ch Premabati Devi, IBADA project officers and other scientists and technical staff .
ICAR is organizing five numbers of 200 hours gardeners skill training sponsored by Horticulture Department in collaboration with KVKs to uplift the skill of farmers in different aspects of garden management.
