Imphal, September 22 2009:
The Working Committee of the Apunba Lup has called upon all those elements, allegedly launching false propaganda against the people's movement, to save the burning house called 'Manipur' first.
It is unwarranted to launch a propaganda campaign, targeting student organisations when the student community has suspended their studies taking due note of the critical situation of Manipur where young mothers are killed right in front of their own children.
Until the Government revokes its decision to go on enacting fake encounters and Chief Minister O Ibobi resigns from his post, the Apunba Lup will never call off its movement, it said in a press release.
All the people of Manipur, including young children know that O Ibobi is behind all the acts of targeting innocent people, the Apunba Lup alleged.
Maintaining that all those incidents, in which many women, youths and other protesters were inflicted severe injuries, are still fresh in public mind, it asked all concerned to give up their habit of acting as black sheep and traitors against the collective stand of the anguished and victimised mass.
It is time Ministers and MLAs work boldly to topple Chief Minister O Ibobi instead of taking extra interest in distribution of old age pension, the Apunba Lup asserted.
It further appealed to all concerned organisations not to undertake bomb and firing attacks that would frighten the people further who are already enduring all kinds of State excesses for demanding justice in the Khwairamband fake encounter.
Chief Minister O Ibobi can never succeed in covering up his administrative failures by blaming the people's movement for the tumultuous situation and the lack of development.
As in other parts of the State, protests were staged at Wangoi Bazar and Samurou Bazar today.
