KSTC, ISKCON, AMUCO, MMWO and others reach out to public

Senapati, April 22 2020: The Karong Senapati Town Committee (KSTC)together with the Senapati Police Station and ration shops of Senapati had distributed rice and salt to 851 migrant workers and daily wage earners living at Senapati in view of the ongoing Nationwide lockdown.

Speaking at the distribution, A John, chairman, Karong Senapati Town Committee stated that the step was taken up to distribute relief materials to the non-locals residing within the Karong Senapati Town area during this nationwide lockdown.

More than 800 migrants are stranded at the town where they cannot return back nor carry out their jobs.

As they are left helpless, the KSTC together with Senapati Police station and ration shops operating at the district headquarters decided to give away the relief for free.

Those who have been left out may also avail the relief materials, the chairman added while stating that the KSTC has been trying to control the rate of every commodity and had asked the ration shops to supply essential commodities at the main bazaar.

Couple join philanthropic works
R Chao Tao, a native of Oinam Hill village and his wife from South Korea, Yu Na Kim have generously distributed 5 kg of rice, 1 kg of sugar, 1 kg of potato, 1 kg of dal and 1 kg of salt to 113 households of Taphou Onaeme village, Senapati.

The couple runs a Korean Restaurant in Senapati town and Goodwill Beacon Ministry (GBM).

GBM has been reaching out to many needy families in the town by distributing food items and other Covid19 protective materials to the health workers and the public on account of the COVID-19 lockdown.

Taphou Onaeme Village Authority on behalf of the villagers expressed profound gratitude to Chao Tao and family for their generous and sacrificial gifts to the villagers during such trying time.

The villagers also prayed to God for his continual blessings upon the couple and their good works that they are doing.

Yaiskul AC MLA extends monetary assistance
As a part of his continuous relief work in face of the lockdown due to COVID-19, Yaiskul Assembly Constituency MLA Thokchom Satyabrata has provided monetary assistance to differently-abled persons in his constituency today.

The monetary assistance to the tune of Rs 1000 was handed out to as many as 131 beneficiaries at the residence of MLA at Brahmapur Bhagyabati Leikai apart from delivering the same at the respective residence of those who could not make it to distribution spot.

Rice, Sanitizer, mask distributed
Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) Manipur State has reached out to the migrant workers in the profession of a barber, laundry, cobbler etc by handing out edibles.

N Tombi Singh, North East in-charge of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, led the distribution team and encourage all the workers to approach the Sangh in case of problems and for any assistance, said a press release of BMS Manipur State.

BMS Manipur State also handed out masks and hand sanitizers as an encouragement to sanitation workers (Safai Karmachari) of Imphal Municipal Corporation who are working relentlessly on the frontline in face of COVID-19.The items sponsored by MIDC Enterprises and Seva Bharti Manipur were distributed under the instruction of Central Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh in the presence of responsible members of BMS Manipur State and Safai Karmachari Sangh, the statement added.

AMUCO helps tenants
Continuing its battle against the COVID crisis, The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) provided relief materials to people living in rented houses at Kongpal Kongkham Leikai and Nepali Basti Maning Leikai, today.

In association with Amateur Athletic Association (AAA), AMUCO provided rice to 580 tenants at Kongpal Kongkham Leikai.

The organisation also gave rice to about 140 individuals at Nepali Basti Maning Leikai with assistance from Women Society of Chingmeirong Nepali Basti, said a statement of AMUCO.

Haraorou Tangkham GP starts NREGA work
With the recovery of 2 COVID-19 patients and partial relaxation of lockdown, NREGA workers under Tangkham Gram Panchayat had started cleaning and repairing irrigation drainages at Yumnam Khunou.

The work which will help the job cardholders to get into action was initiated under the aegis of Pradhan of Tangkham Gram Panchayat, Leishangthem Kullachandra@ Inaoba.

The drainage facility will help irrigate 360 hectares of agricultural land of the region.

The work was listed under 11-day programme and is expected to make up the loss due to drought-like situation occurred last year, said the Pradhan.

ISKCON distributes food
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Manipur, today distributed more than 600 food packets to the security personnel and traffic police stationed at different locations in and around Imphal.

ISKCON, Manipur appreciated the highly commendable job being carried out by the law enforcement agencies of the State who have been tirelessly working to curb the COVID-19 pandemic from escalating in Manipur, said ISKCON in a statement today.

It also said that face masks were also distributed to the police on duty as a part of the campaign.

ISKCON, Manipur thanked all security personnel for their tireless efforts.

KANGPOKPI: With an aim to address the plights of the people and help the Government in the collective fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, elected Executive Member of ADC Sadar Hills, Lamkholen Kipgen distributed rice free to the public of 9 District Council Constituency, today.

Lamkholen Kipgen, Executive Member, ADC Sadar Hills is elected from 9 District Council Constituency.

The Councillor distributed 10 kg of rice to more than 300 poor families in his Constituency.

He said that the pandemic COVID-19 is a health crisis and disrupt normal life everywhere, owing to the lockdown imposed by the Government to curb the spread of the virus.

He also urged all like-minded people to come forward in helping the Government so as to help the people at this critical juncture.

THOUBAL: Various social workers, relief committees and organisations continued to lend a hand to lockdown affected peoples in various locations of the State by offering relief materials.

As a part of his continuous effort, former vice president of BJP Manipur Pradesh, Thokchom Jadumani has distributed edibles and water at various localities under Khangabok Assembly Constituency.

The day saw residents of Khangabok Part III avail the relief materials with the maintenance of social distance after helping them wash their hands with sanitizer.

The social worker is also aiming to cover all the remaining locations under the AC in days to come.

Water, refreshments and sunglasses were also offered to the police personnel posted at a various portion of the Thoubal various local organisations and individuals.

Families dependent on daily wage were also helped with edibles by Heirok Part I Maning Leikai Youth Club today as volunteers of IRCS Thoubal Branch handed out free rice.

In the meantime, members of clubs in Heirok Kendra namely Ideal Youth Club, Shikhong Khunou; NESA, Nongpok Sekmai; JUPSO, Shikhong Bazar and ECYA, Shikhong Khumbi have jointly visited neighbouring Sada Lungthar village under, Kangpokpi district and extended edibles.

The villagers from Sada Lungthar had earlier presented locally grown vegetables and eatables to the meitei and pangal communities as a mark of solidarity during the lockdown.

BJP Wangkhem Mandal has also provided edibles to 12,097 households under the aegis of former MLA and BJP spokesperson, Dr Nimaichand Luwang.

The materials were extended with the fund contributed by members of the BJP Wangkhem Mandal, said a statement.

Manipur Muslim Welfare Association (MMWO) has also assisted widows, orphans, and tenants from far-flung areas residing at Hatta Golapati, Mantripukhri, Khurai-Khaibeisoi, Keirao, Mayang Imphal Chirai, Mayang Imphal Jangbi, Uchiwa Wangbam, Phabakchao and Konuma, by distributing edibles with an aim of reducing their hardships during the lockdown and as a mark of encouragement to Government in fighting the disease.

MMWO in a statement, also lauded the frontline workers, especially the doctors and other staff who helped cure the COVID-19 patients in the State.

The association also expressed its readiness to extend co-operation to all concerned who are fighting the disease.

United Council of Sora (UCS) has also extended edibles to around 200 lockdown affected families.

A statement of UCS also expressed gratefulness to all contributors.

In yet another heartwarming gesture, Lamdangmei Chiru Village Authority has also visited Naharal Leishemba Club, Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai and Ema Panthoibi Shanglen Community Hall, Thangmeiband Fishery Gate, to present vegetables to valley brethren on account of the lockdown.

Moreh: A team of Co-ordinating Body Khurai has also reached out to the people of Moreh and Kwatha today by distributing edibes .

The team was flagged from Citizen Club, Soibam Leikai.

Sagolsem Juge Foundation also extended helping hands to disabled-persons and impoverished families form Wangoi AC by providing edibles.
