Dengue cell set up in CCpur

Subsequent to the outbreak of Dengue in the district, a district level monitoring committee has been constituted yesterday with the Deputy Commissioner as its Chairperson while 60 VDF personnel have been assigned to assist in the anti-mosquito drive set to begin tomorrow, reports our correspondent.
The Dengue monitoring cell was constituted after the local representative, Power Minister T Phungzathang convened a meeting to discuss the epidemic at his residence yesterday.
ED/DRDA was appointed as vicechairperson of the cell with the CMO as its member secretary.
The SP, CEO/ADC and top functionaries of the health department were appointed as its members.
Tonsing on his part has allotted Rs 10 lakhs for the anti-dengue exercise from his local MLA development fund even as he appealed to all the residents to take the initiative and extend co-operation to the district administration in fighting the Dengue virus.
"We need a concerted effort at this hour and stand united.
VAs, MLAs and ministers, Church leaders, philanthropic organisations, and the public need to collectively fight this fatal virus," he said adding "We should not let any more of us die due to Dengue" .
The CMO Dr Liensang today said over 80 health workers and 60 VDF personnel were imparted training for the anti-mosquito campaign that will begin tomorrow.
"We will have 30 groups from tomorrow who will visit every household to sanitise the township of all likely breeding grounds of mosquito, which spread the virus," he said.
Fogging exercise was taken up by two teams and they will continue as long as it requires, he said.
Earlier in the week health workers had already collected data on cases of fever from the every household in town.
The health department's latest report says that there are 33 cases of dengue in the district so far.
Twenty more samples will be sent to Imphal tomorrow for test, added Dr Liensang.
