Imphal, June 14:
The government is set to initiate action against officials who quietly allotted land inside as well as in the vicinity of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, RIMS, to an organization called Paradeshi Youth Development Organization, on lease basis, according to reliable sources.
The government as per a decision on June 8, is also processing the necessary papers to have the allotment order to the organization cancelled, the sources said.
The plot of land, measuring 0.377750 hectares, had been allotted to 34 individuals belonging to the organizations by separate orders of the Planning and Development Authority, PDA, the sources said.
The plot under patta (NO 40/152) was issued by the survey and settlement officer-II (DSO-A).
the same plot under Dag No 2145 had already been issued to the RIMS, the sources said.
According to records maintained by the directorate of settlement and land revenue, DSLR, the total area of patta land belonging to the RIMS without the hospital area, is 38, 7600 hectares.
The RIMS also has been allotted another 4, 5969 hectares.
However, this plot is without patta and is classified under dagchitha, the sources said.
The total area, patta as well as dagchitta, belonging to the RIMS is hence 107.43 acres.
As per the records at the DSLR, apart from the plot allotted to the Paradeshi Youth Development Organization, there are no cases of encroachment on RIMS land.
The sources also said the PDA has allotted other khasland within Imphal to private individuals on lease basis.
The sources questioned the legality of the PDAs action.
Since it maintains no record of Khasland.
It may be recalled here that some years ago, the state government had transferred all khasland to the PDAs action, since it maintains no record of khasland.
