He recounted that the State Government imposed lockdown and curfew in the State even before the detection of the first COVID-19 case on late March, this year.
Meanwhile, residents and authorities who were panicky at the time started barricading roads and streets in fear of COVID spread, causing untold inconvenience to frontline workers, he added.
He maintained that the sudden increase of COVID-19 positive cases after lifting curfew and lockdown in the State implied the lapses in the Government policy.
He also said that the State Government should arrange facilities for isolating and treating asymptomatic COVID patients too.
Saying that there are no adequate beds for COVID patients and ICU facilities in the State, Angamba urged the State Government to adopt a scientific strategy and well-planned policy to defeat the pandemic.
Later a panel discussion was also conducted in the presence of AHPI Joint Secretary Dr H Nabakeshor, MU Assistant Professor Dr S Shantikumar, Health Services Additional Director Dr Sashikumar Mangang.
