Extra-Judicial Execution Victims Families Association, Manipur (EEVFAM) today observed its foundation day at Nupi Lan Memorial complex.
Managing trustee of Just Peace Foundation Kh Anandi and president of EEVFAM Renu Takhellambam attended the function as chief guest and functional president respectively.
Senior journalist Irengbam Arun, Advocate Rakesh Meihoubam of Human Rights Law Network, Longjam Meena Devi, Mamtaz and Maibam Nabakishore were also present at the occasion as special guests.
Speaking at the occasion, Ksh Anandi asserted that victims of extra-judicial execution, specially women who have been widowed or had their children killed, should not hesitate to start their life anew.
They should take up some trade which can them as well as the economy of the State.
Today, many women are taking care of their own needs through selling vegetables, fruits, cloths, etc in Khwairamband Bazar, she pointed out.
Now, it is also high time for all the widows to unite and fight for their rights together even at the international level, she added.
Irengbam Arun said that journalists should write more about the problems being faced by victim families of extra-judicial execution and expose the high handedness of the police and other security forces.
