Dr M Nara to leave on Loitam Richard's trail

Imphal, May 05 2012: With the death of Richard Loitam under mysterious circumstances in Bangalore becoming a raging issue in the State, CPI Manipur State Council's State Secretary Dr M Nara Singh will leave for the Karnataka capital tomorrow to get first hand account of the incident.

An executive committee meeting of CPI Manipur State Council held today studied in detail the situation arising out of the controversial death of the Bangalore-based Acharya NRV School of Architecture's second semester student and approved on deputing Dr Nara to Bangalore to find the truth on the demise of the youth.

Interacting with some newspersons after the Council meeting, Dr Nara conveyed that the CPI shares the grievances of the State's student community on the issue and deliberated at length on the ongoing movement launched by the students.

As the Party is of the view that the institute where Richard was studying is a commercial entity it might be possible that authorities of the Acharya NRV School of Architecture are not revealing the truth in order to protect prestige of the institute, expressed the State CPI leader who added that to clear the cloud hanging over the controversial death the executive committee meeting decided to send him to Bangalore.

Stating that he would leave for Bangalore from Guwahati on May 7, the former Minister said a meeting with the Karnataka Chief Minister has already been fixed for the same afternoon during which the controversial death of Richard Loitam would be discussed.

Informing that he would prevail upon the Karnataka CM to probe the incident without any leniency so that justice is delivered at the earliest, he also confided that a report of his visit/assessment would be placed before the party executives on return to chalk out further course of action.

On the otherhand, the State CPI observed the 194th death anniversary of Karl Marx under the aegis of the party's Department of Agitation and Propaganda at Irabot Bhavan today.

Addressing the observance function, Dr Nara said scientific theory of Karl Marx that the gap between the rich and the poor of the society will only increase is most glaring in the present day.

Such growing economic disparity is the chief factor for the global crisis on various fronts, he maintained while asserting that inspite of defeat in the recent State assembly election the party will continue to take up the cause for the deprived section of the society.
