Like every year, the State Government will observe Patriots' Day on August 13 to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of martyrs while fighting the colonial British power to safeguard the independence of the then sovereign Manipur, Kingdom.
The main function of the day will be held at Bir Tikendrajit Park where Senapati Tikendrajit and General Thangal were executed by hanging on the charge of waging war against the British Empire.
The function will commence from 4 am with rendering of devotional songs.
At 8 am, people will pay floral tributes and homage to the memorial of Bir Tikendrajit at Hicham Yaichampat as well as at the temple of Thangal General located within Palace compound.
The afternoon session of the observance would begin from 3.30 pm with paying of floral tribute by chief guest and president at the memorial site inside Kangla Fort.
After that, the main observance function would commence at Bir Tikendrajit Park at 4 pm with the chief guest and the president leading the people in paying homage at the Sahid Minar.
