The State level "Kut Festival" organized by the State Level Kut Committee Manipur was held at Brig Thomas Ground today at Kangpokpi with Chief Minister O Ibobi and TD Minister Phungzathang Tonsing as the chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking at the function, Chief Minister O Ibobi urged the people to maintain peace and harmony and help in ushering development in the State.
Maintaining that people of different caste and creed have been living together peacefully in the State since time immemorial, the CM said that the present generation should learn to maintain the love and bond which had been nurtured by our forefathers by respecting each others' customs and beliefs.
Informing that a total sum of Rs 32 lakhs has been kept aside for compensating the victims of the mudslide and landslide which hit some parts of Senapati dist a few months back, CM said that State Govt will leave no stones unturned to rehabilitate the victims.
CM also donated a sum of Rs one lakh to the organizing committee from his discretionary fund.
Cultural and traditional dances and songs marked the main function.
The festival is being celebrated under the theme "Peace and Unity".
