Five to battle for Hiyanglam seat

Imphal, October 01 2014:
It has now been confirmed that five candidates would fight against each other in the by-election to Hiyanglam A/C.Till late afternoon today, which is the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers, none of the candidates withdrew their nomination papers.
The by-election has been necessitated following the expiry of sitting MLA M Kunjo.
The candidates confirmed for the by-election are Elangbam Dwijamani (INC), Maibam Dhanabir (BJP), Thokchom Laiba (MSCP), Dr Yumnam Radheshyam (AITC) and Mayengbam Amutombi (MPP) .
Hiyanglam A/C has 24,214 voters and 34 polling stations.
All the 34 polling stations have been already declared as hyper sensitive.
The by-election has been scheduled on October 17 and counting of votes is on October 20 .
In the meantime, election campaigns of all the contesting candidates backed by their parties have picked up greater momentum.
Public meetings and camera meetings are being held on daily basis in different localities of the Assembly segment.
