Imphal, August 01:
An unsigned press release purportedly from the ministry of information and publicity, NSCN(IM) has warned the government of India to disown the statement of the Union home minister, LK Advani, or else be held responsible "for all eventual consequences." The release, which was on ordinary stationery bearing no official seal, and not on the letter head of either the NSCN or the GPRN, said the June 14 Bangkok agreement remains intact and that the "current Indo-Naga ceasefire is without any territorial limit." It said the NSCN having fully committed to the national cause of the Nagas will never betray the aspirations and the confidence of the people.
"It is our firm stance that the principle that upholds the integrity of the Naga nationhood shall never be compromised." The release said.
The release said Advani's reply to a question by the media that the three words "without territorial limits" have been removed from the June 14 Bangkok agreement is misleading.
"Be it to subside the street shouting Meiteis or whatever the reason behind such unguarded utterances, it will be very costly for the GOI.
It warned.
It said the statement created "commotion and suspicion" in the minds of the people, adding "Therefore, the collective leadership of the NSCN has promptly issued clarification in black and white that at no point of time has the NSCN given commitment that cease-fire is confined only within the so called Indian created Nagaland state.
