Imphal, January 31, 2011:
A newly born girl child has reportedly died due to alleged negligence of the attending doctors and nurses in Jawaharlal Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).
According to information received by the press, 31-year old Yumnam Ongbi Nirmala w/o Biju of Khagempalli Panthak gave birth to a baby girl without any complication at JNIMS at around 7 am today.
It was the first child of the couple.
However, after around one hour of delivery, one of the nurses came out to inform about the death of the child.
Nirmala is a teacher in Royal School of Nursing.
She has been consulting Dr Sukumar during her pregnancy period and at his advice, she was admitted to JNIMS on January 29 for the delivery.
However, Dr Sukumar was not present in the labour room today and as the doctor on duty complained of some problems on his hand, one of the senior nurses had reportedly delivered the child.
Heartbroken from the loss of his first child, Biju has charged that his child died on account of the negligence of the attending doctors and nurses.
