Poll rival lashes out at Wangkhem MLA
Source: Chronicle News Service

Thoubal, November 01 2021: Intending BJP candidate in Wangkhem AC and social worker Kharibam Jiban Singh has stated that the incumbent MLA of Wangkhem AC need not contest the polls again if he had worked to develop and improve the education and irrigation sectors of the constituency.

The social worker made the statement during the "Appreciation Function cum Public Meeting" organised by Booth Level Committee 32/5, 32/6 and 32/8 Thoubal Kiyam at Thoubal Kiyam Cheithabam Lampak on Sunday.

Jiban said that for a state to develop, the development of its education sector is a must.

However, Wangkhem AC does not have a higher secondary school till date.

Although Yairipok Bishnunaha has witnessed many MLAs in a span of 40 years, no step has been taken up to upgrade Yairipok High School, which is within zero kilometre, to a higher secondary.

Thus, owing to the failure of the education system in the constituency, huge sum of money is drained to private schools in the area, which, in turn, has affected the economy of the state.

Claiming that the irrigation system has also failed in Wangkhem, the candidate emphasised the need to utilise ground water.

However, no such step has been taken up till date, thereby affecting agricultur-al activities in the area and causing drought.

Thus, Jiban gave assurance of improving the irrigation system in the constituency to ensure harvest of crops three times in a year.

Jiban further assured of carrying out all works within 5 years, compared to complacent performance by the incumbent MLA in the last 15 years.

This feat has already been shown by the BJP government in 4 and half years, he said, while adding that he will hand over the LADF to the people with priority on construction of suitable houses for those in dire need in the constituency.

In her speech, BJP Mani-pur Pradesh general secretary (organisation) K Inaocha Devi said that the state has witnessed significant changes under the BJP governments at the centre and in the state.

As such, she appealed to the people of Wangkhem AC to vote for BJP in the upcoming polls to ensure the return of the BJP government.

Meanwhile, BJP Thoubal District president Y Kumarjit said that the award of party ticket is not dependent on the party but the people.

The candidate favoured by the people will naturally get the party ticket, he reasoned.

Among others, the meeting was attended by BJP Wangkhem Mandal president Leishangthem Sunilkumar.
