Sit-in protests bomb threat to MU ex-VC

Imphal, August 10 2025: A sit-in protest was organised by Yengkhom Leirak Development Club (YLDC) and local meira paibi at Sagolband Tera Yengkhom Leirak community hall on Sunday to denounce placing of a hand grenade by unknown perSon(s) at the Yengkhom Leirak residence of Manipur University former vice chancellor professor H Tombi on Saturday.

Speaking to media persons, YLDC president RK Somorendro condemned the act of placing explosive device in the densely populated area and causing panic among the public.

Appealing not to repeat such acts in the future, he said suggested issues, if any, be resolved through peaceful and decent means.

Somorendro also demanded that a public clarification be issued at the earliest on those involved and reason thereof.
