SHITDU operational, ambulance service launched

After its formal inauguration and dedication on September 1, the Sadar Hills Inland Transporters and Drivers' Union (SHITDU) became operational with a 24x7 ambulance service on September 23 along National Highway 2.SHUTDU vice president Thangminlen Kipgen said the Union has been activated to look into the welfare of drivers operating along National Highway 2 in Kangpokpi district and informed that a booth was installed recently at Twineh Veng near Champhai Keithelmanbi Military Colony to receive and address any problems and grievances faced by the drivers as well as to collect welfare funds from them.
He also said that an ambulance has also been stationed at the booth for any emergency such as accidents and any inland transporters and drivers may call the contact numbers in case of any emergencies.
Thangminlien then appealed to the drivers to extend cooperation to the union and urged the public to respect the sacrifice made by drivers in delivering public requirements and help them whenever they are in trouble.
