Churches urged to suspend all gatherings

Imphal, May 11 2021: Moyon Naga Baptist Association (MYNBA), Chandel has urged churches and pastors under the association to suspend all religious gatherings and worship services with effect from May 12.In a joint statement, Association president Rev Dr Roel Philip and executive secretary Rev Dr Koningthung Ngoru explained that suspension of large gatherings has become unavoidable in view of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic hitting hard the state.

However, MYNBA encouraged online worship service or Bible study for spiritual growth and moral motivation and further urged the churches to maintain top vigil.

Political, religious meetings, birthday celebrations, wedding ceremonies, picnics and family get-together within the MYNBA churches are suspended, said the statement.

MYNBA also cautioned that any individual or group not complying with the notification would be held responsible for any consequences and attract legal action.
