Committee inaugurates Bishnupur Ima Keithel

Bishnupur, July 30 2025: Bishnupur Ima Keithel, which remained officially inoperative in-spite of completion of the building construction and alleged indifference by authorities concerned to repeated appeals for inauguration of the said, has been inaugurated by the Bishnupur public led by Lumlangdong Ema Keithel Development Committee president Lourembam Nganbi on Wednesday.

In view of inconveniences faced by women vendors of the market, the Ima Keithel was inaugurated after conduct of religious rituals in the presence of Committee functionaries and other women activists.

Speaking on the occasion, L Nganbi decried lack of initiative by the local MLA and the then minister concerned to inaugurate the completed Keithel.

Informing that the women vendors have been awaiting for resumption of formal trade activities in the renovated Keithel, she reasoned that the Committee decided not to wait for the authorities' consent any longer after their persistent appeals went unheeded.

Nganbi also informed that with the work agency conveying to carty out finishing touch of the market building within August 15, the Committee resolved that all licence holder women vendors may ply their wares in the Keithel from August 16.As part of the programme, masons, labourers and others involved in construction of the market were presented gifts by the Committee.
