Legal awareness prog organised

District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chandel under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority organised a one-day legal awareness programme on "Common Myths on Justice Delivery System" as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign at Sinadam Village in Chandel District on Friday.
According to a press note issued by DLSA Chandel secretary Lamkholai Kipgen, the programme commenced with a welcome speech from DLSA Chandel PLV Changlo Nula Anal, and advocate Jacky Lucy Lamkang attended as resource person.
Local village authorities, villagers, students and other PLVs also participated in the programme.
Jacky Lucy Lamkang gave a briefing on the justice delivery system in the country, and further spoke about various types of cases viz., criminal, civil, juvenile justice, etc.
She further explained the differences between a suspect, arrestee, accused and a convict and talked on the various roles of officials under India's Judiciary System..
In conclusion, she said that delivering justice is not a duty solely entrusted to the judiciary, it cannot be conducted in isolation.
The justice delivery mechanism is dependent on several factors and cooperation amongst the three major organs of the state i.e., the executive, legislature and the judiciary.
Later, an interactive session with the participants was facilitated.
