AR conducts 'Go Green Initiative Campaign'

Imphal, July 09 2024:
Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the forest department, organised a 'Go Green Initiative Campaign' on July 4 in Khengjoi Sub-division, Chandel district, with a tree plantation drive to mark the 75th Van Mahotsav.
Informing that 1500 bokul, 2500 gulmohar, 1000 shamba, 1800 heikru, 1200 yongchak, 1200 theibong, 1000 jarol, 800 jam and many other species were planted as part of the event; PRO IGAR (S) said in a statement that an awareness drive on water conservation was also conducted at Phaisanjang besides a waste management competition held at Gamphazol to promote effective waste reduction and recycling practices.
A lecture on the Go Green Initiative was also conducted at Changpol on the significance of environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.
The campaign concluded with a drawing and painting competition themed "Go Green" at Molcham to inspire creativity and environmental awareness among the participants.
The initiative drew around 580 locals and 375 Assam Rifles personnel.
Distinguished guests, including Chakpikarong range forest officer (RFO) Ruben, six officials from the forest department, and village chiefs from ten villages attended the events, added the statement.
