Imphal, July 05 2021: Deputy Chairman of Manipur State Planning Board and MLA of Keirao AC, Lourembam Rameshwor handed over water pump sets to farmers of major paddy fields in the Constituency today.

In order to alleviate the problem of scarcity of water in paddy fields due to scanty rainfall, L Rameshwor purchased 10 HP 5 electric water pump sets and handed it over to the farmers of Keirao AC today.

Water were pumped from the nearby rivers to paddy fjelds of Thongrangbi, Arapti, Urup, Takhok and Kyamgei using the water pump sets.

The MLA said that electric water pumps were being handed in order to avoid the problem of purchasing fuels.

It may be noted that the MLA also handed over diesel water pump sets to farmers procured from Agriculture Department last year also to enhance the agricultural activities.

And at present, boring of tube wells in around 15 different locations in Keirao AC is underway taken up by the Minor Irrigation Department.
