Poppy plants scythed, saplings planted

Imphal, March 03 2025:
Assam Rifles, in coordination with Manipur Police and Border Security Force (BSF), destroyed 20 acres of illegal poppy cultivation in Khudai Khullen, Chelep, Tengnoupal district, on Monday.
Acting on credible intelligence, the joint operation involved extensive surveillance and ground action to eliminate the illicit crops, said a PRO IGAR (S) release.
On the other-hand, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the village authorities of Wanglee, conducted a tree plantation drive on Monday to commemorate World Wildlife Day.
The drive aims to raise awareness among local youth about the importance of forest conservation and sustainable resource management.
According to a PRO IGAR (S) release, total of 25 villagers, including four representatives from the Wanglee Village Council, actively participated in planting 350 saplings across the village and along the Wanglee-Kasong road.
