LSTK president Oinam Menjor no more

Imphal, June 17 2021: Lainingthou Sanamahi Thougal Kanglup (LSTK) president Oinam Menjor Khuman, who worked tirelessly for revival of the indigenous Sanamahi religion, breathed his last on Wednesday morning at his Oinam residence in Bishnupur district.

He was 88.Menjor was a firm and faithful devotee of Sanamahi religion and took prime roles in promotion of Sanamahi religion, culture and tradition of Meetei.

He also took primary responsibility in constructing Lainingthou Sanamahi temple 'Sanamahi Kiyong' at Selloi Langmai Ching.

Oinam Menjor was the father of Oinam Chaoba who died during the movement to bring back the idols of Lainingthou and Leimaren at Haying Khongbal Uphong Yumpham on September 24, 1976.Saddened over the demise of Menjor, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba on his social media account prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and further shared the pain of the bereaved family.

In separate releases, Foundation for University of Sanamahi Culture, Lain-ingthou Sanamahi Temple Board, Uttra Shanglen Sana Konung, Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) and LOUSHAL have condoled the demise of Menjor Khuman and observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
