Brown sugar worth over Rs 2 cr seized

Senapati, February 10 2022: Maram Battalion of Jwalamukhi Sector, Assam Rifles under IGAR (E) seized 43 soap cases containing brown sugar worth more than Rs 2 crore.

According to a PRO Assam Rifles, troops of Maram Battalion launched a special operation late afternoon on February 9 at Rikhumai Ta-phou area.

On reaching the location provided by credible source, the troops cordoned the house and the commander with two individuals barged into the house.

On seeing the security personnel, the individual ran away from a small passage.

The house was searched thoroughly which led to recovery of 43 soap cases of brown sugar.

The recovered items have been handed over to Senapati police station.

This type of operation by security force will give a big setback to drug peddlers in the society and will help in improving and developing the society in better way, the PRO said.
