Thoubal JAC drops 48-hr strike plan

Imphal, August 03 2025: 'JAC Against Killing of Khangembam Ningol Maibam Ongbi Samita of Tekcham' has called off its 48-hour general strike in Thoubal district planned from Sunday midnight.

In a release issued Sunday, JAC chairperson Kh Meratombi Leima and convener S Jemson informed that the general strike has been called off in view of the observance of Manipur Integrity Day on Monday.

The JAC, however, cautioned that in case the government does not take appropriate action on the matter, within a week then it along with public and state level civil society organisations will launch intense agitation.

While appealing to clubs, organisations, meira paibi groups, etc., to extend support to its pursuit for justice for the victim, the JAC declared that it will not retract from the earlier resolution not to claim Samita's body till justice is delivered.
